Support

The quickest route, and the right one for most things: thefeedback form. No account, and nothing is posted publicly. An email address is optional — leave it blank and the report is anonymous.

Two paths, whichever you prefer. An email to support@mgcrea.io arrives in the same place as an issue on the support repository; the issue has the advantage of being public, and so readable by the next person to hit the same problem.

What to include

A useful report fits in four lines. Without them, the first reply will only be a request for details:

• Your Balise version and your macOS version (Balise › About).
• What you were doing, and what you expected instead of what happened.
• The layer on screen and the geographic area, if it is a map problem — a missing tile is often specific to one layer at one scale.
• The GPX file concerned, if it is an import or an export. It is XML: you can open it and check what it contains before sending it.

Problems that already have an answer

The map is blank, or a layer stopped drawing

Almost always something on the Géoplateforme's side rather than the application's: either the service is briefly unavailable, or IGN has moved the layer. The second case is fixed by an update — the application regenerates its catalogue from the service'sGetCapabilities, it does not guess identifiers. Do report it; that is exactly the kind of change we need to hear about quickly.

The SCAN 25 map is not in the layer list

That is deliberate. Its licence covers professional and associative use, which does not permit redistribution in a consumer application — and caching its tiles offline would be redistribution. Rather than list it in the picker in a form nobody can switch on, the app does not offer it until the question is settled with IGN.

The ascent figure does not match my other application

Ascent figures differ between tools because the terrain model and the sampling interval differ. Balise queries IGN's elevation service, whose model is specific to French territory and finer than a global one. A discrepancy against a watch GPS is normal; a discrepancy of several hundred metres is not.

Requirements

macOS 26 or later. Current version: 1.4.0. A network connection is needed to load tiles and query elevation; an area already downloaded then works without one.

Feature requests

Welcome, by the same two paths. What helps: describing the outing you are planning and what is blocking you, rather than the implementation you have in mind. The known constraint is the data licensing, not the appetite.
